One of the reasons for the free distribution of this paper is to disseminate communist ideology and anti-capitalist analyses of current events in order to counter the pro-capitalist propaganda of mainstream sources.

Distributing this paper provides an opportunity to encounter and talk with people who might, because of their everyday experience, be interested in the possibility of anti-capitalist revolution. We think it’s important to disseminate a revolutionary paper where counter-revolutionary papers are already distributed: in the streets, in the subways, in the neighbourhoods.

When I have participated in the distribution of this paper, I’ve often been surprised at the willingness of some to not only take the Partisan, but to stop and engage in a discussion. Being able to actually talk about communism in the street, and to do so in a way that is un-dogmatic, is important. Those of us who still believe that communism is a vital alternative for the long nightmare of capitalism need to make communism part of everyday discourse. In other countries, the necessity of spreading revolutionary ideas is understood as important; with time, we hope more will realize we need to do the same here.
